Technique - melt sprue tree with Plastic Magic as glue / filler

Heard about this technique for quite some time, and first time to test it myself.

Use sprue tree with same color as the parts you want to glue / fill. Cut the sprue tree branch into small pieces, keep them in a small bottle such as used / cleaned paint bottle. Add some Plastic Magic just enough to cover the pieces of plastic and wait for couple of hours.

You can see the solution in the following picture. It feels much more sticky then the original Plastic Magic.

Before you apply, remember to keep a small gap between the parts you want to glue, fill in the solution with needle or toothpick and press the parts together.
The melt material will fill the gap, wait for 24 hours and clean it with pen knife and sand it down with sandpaper.

This will mostly clean the seams, and you can barely noticed it. Depends on the sanding result, you might want to apply a matte clear coat to unify the color on sanded and non-sanded surface of the parts, and it should be good enough.

This technique can be used on parts which require gap filling but without painting afterwards.

New project - RC ? Tamiya Buggy Car Chassis Set

It is a fun small build, I did not add the battery box as I doubt I will use it at all.

It took like 15 mins, at most 20 mins to complete the build.

Trumpeter 1/48 J-7B #3

Looking at the provided decals, I found that it does not match the cockpit IP at all ...

Given it has limited visibility to the interior of the cockpit after closing the canopy, I take the decals as is.

Highlight the cockpit with some enamels black, red, blue, silver ... followed by dark grey wash with AK paint.

Time to build the cockpit.
