Received the micro servo and continue the project

Mini-Z MA03 Evo2 4WD ready

This is my first Evo2 series, and I have prepared a Flysky micro receiver.

Unfortunately the Noble Pro cannot pair with it with its firmware v1.01 and support only up to Evo.

Use MacBook to backup the transmitter setting and models, but cannot use the same application provided on Mac to upgrade the firmware.

End up found an old Windows 10 laptop to run the "standalone" firmware upgrade to the latest v1.17 firmware, followed by reload the backup transmitter setting. 

Now it can pair and ready to run.

Found this shell at home and seems it can fit on the MA03 Evo2 chassis

Actually I don't really know much about 1/27 and 1/28. Time to learn.

Started the project

But figured out that the Power HD mini servo does not fit

Even my other mini servo (for 1/5 bike brake) is way too big

Time to look for micro servo before continue the project

I realised that I ran it last in 2021 !!!

5 years ago.

Engine still can start, but after two tanks, one of the rear dog bone ate into the gear diff outdrive and damaged it.

FW05RR maintenance

Ran the car a couple of times recently, and resolved a few issues so far - mid bridge bearings hub, 2-speed shaft, bearings on rear bearing hub .... now the front gear box problem.

Brake disc damaged too - ordered replacement parts. Still like this car a lot and shaft drive on-road is rare.

RC day with Xray X4 with 4.5T mod and ARC A10 23' with 17.5T blinky

So far 4 packs with the A10, and happy with its initial setup. It is now using the same AMB unit and tyres from X4. 

I still need to learn how to setup X4 for mod motor, and make it more easy to drive. And somehow the AMB always report broken records for a 5 mins run.

I moved the same AMB from X4 to A10, and run on same track - clear 5 mins record on Speed Hive without breaking. 

A puzzle ...

ESC installed - this time is Orca Totam 100amp stock ESC

The ESC is solid metal which is thin and small footprint, however, it has a few wire connection including the on/off switch ... which end up make it look a bit messy.

Spur from 3Racing

Think I never try this brand of spur before, it has some sign of being produced by CNC. It has an offset which help to fit in narrow space of mid motor mount. 

Will test it on Xray X4 next

The arms are combined of both alloy plates and graphite plates, and a super simplified design of anti-roll bar connection point.

Chassis built completed, pending shocks build

Top 16kg servo and a HW juststock 13.5T motor this time.

This is a 2nd hand kit - previous owner built but never run

Installed electronics and completed the wiring over weekend, tested fit the bodyshell from X4, cannot fit. But it seems it can share the old bodyshell from older T4 generation.

The steering servo used this time is a new brand I have never tried, it comes with metal servo horn

Electronics wiring done - this time try a new brand from HK - RFX-10 ESC. 160A ESC should be good enough for 17.5T blinky, built in bluetooth which make adjustment easier too. Except the ESC footprint is a bit bigger and need to fit it correctly on the chassis.

Bodyshell also cut and fitted.

Suddenly - quite a number of this kit are running in local track.

Another set of tyres for this weekend

FW05RR has been back to action for 3 weekends ! but tyres diameter has a lot of impact to its speed. First round was satisfied but since there was a malfunction bearing on one of rear hub which caused the tyre to become cone shape, truing down the tyre diameter (down to 60.5mm) has a direct impact to the car mid and top speed performance on 2nd and 3rd weekend. 

I was running 35/37 but it is out of stock now, so try 32-40/40 in next meeting.

ARC A10 23' #1

Another brand, similar design ...

But, its build quality surprise me - it is the very first time I built ARC kit altho I have bought a few over the years. 

Ball bearings are high quality, moving parts are smooth, anti-roll bars adjustment is easy, front and rear drive shafts are all pre built ...

Spent few hours each day over 3 days - it is almost done - only pending ESC installation, basic setup and body shell. 

I have been enjoying the build.

Another set of 1/10 TC setup tool

Used the ArrowMax 4D for over a years with my new and old TC, it is working well but just one issue - some of the modern TC has adjustable caster - and some brand of kit - the pointer for caster is long and cannot fit well on the 4D.

Hudy setup tool is much higher - and possibly can fit in well.
